Westpac has spent a year developing its own in-house app for securely taking and delivering notes on the iPad, solving a document-security puzzle that has troubled rivals for some time. Tabula allows Westpac's administrative staff to cobble together documents from all over the organisation that may be required for upcoming board meetings; customise them into an agenda packet for each board member; encrypt them internally; and send them electronically to the iPad

in brief Over the weekend, Optus announced a new offer: free fixed broadband with some of its mobile plans. From today, Optus customers who sign up for an $89 Timeless or Business Timeless mobile plan for 24 months or a Home Advantage home phone plan for $59.95 per month will receive 50GB of free broadband, with no set-up fee. Existing customers can upgrade to the plans to take advantage of the offer, or, if they are already on the plans, they can upgrade to free broadband

Google releases full Street View report

Google has released a full version of the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) report on the company's controversial gathering of personal data with Street View cars. (Google Street View car in Bristol image by Byrion Smith , CC2.0 ) The move, reported by the Los Angeles Times , comes about a week after a privacy group filed a Freedom of Information Act request to see the full report, and a short time after the FCC released a heavily redacted version, saying that Google's data collection had not broken the law, but that the commission would impose a US$25,000 fine on the company for "deliberately impeding and delaying" its probe .

Datacom adds SAP capability

Local IT services company Datacom has added a new SAP division to its ranks after buying out Melbourne-based SAP implementation and support firm Enterprise Support Asia Pacific for an undisclosed sum. Datacom announced the acquisition today, and outlined plans to integrate Enterprise Support Asia Pacific directly into the Datacom business to "augment ... business process outsourcing capability around payroll and related human resource management services," said Mark McWilliams, investments director for Datacom.
