Microsoft announced its Windows Phone 7 Series (WP7S) during the recent Mobile World Congress , but the first products to come with the company's latest OS won't be available till the end of 2010. Between now and then, we can expect up to 14 more WM6.5 phones, and the HTC HD mini is one of them.

The good Strong physical design Excellent hardware/connectivity First-rate battery life The bad Series 60 OS feels seriously out-dated Business productivity tools need attention In all honesty, the "mini" version of phones is a new phenomenon that is kind of lost on us. In most instances bigger is better, a look at Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 range will attest to that, but in the case of the Nokia N97 , the mini version is the victor.

The good Sharp design Built-in HSDPA SIM card reader Good battery life The bad No 802.11n or gigabit Ethernet Trackpad is a bit on the small side Editor's note: the NC10 is exclusively sold by Optus in Australia and as such no outright RRP was available at the time this review was written. Contract pricing is listed in the review.

The good Zoom bar is awesome GPS hardware is powerful 5-megapixel camera is a stand-out The bad 2.6-inch screen is too small for the task Boring beige design breaks no new ground A refresh in Nokia's Navigator series has become an annual event. The 6710 is the company's third Navigator and its best, though its shortcomings are still glaringly obvious

The good Ready-configured appliance Bundled training Dynamic labelling of managed systems Application virtualisation Lumension patch management The bad Web-based GUI takes a little getting used to Noisy fans Linux support is limited to Red Hat Systems management tools are notorious for being both complicated and costly to deploy — criticism that Kace claims to address with its Kbox 1000 Series Systems Management Appliance solution. The good Solid construction Great keypad Good 8MP camera, 8GB storage The bad 2.6-inch screen is small for this price range Earpiece speaker was muffled during tests The world of mobile technology moves at a break-neck speed, and 2009 is an interesting year in that it represents the hand-over from older technologies to the newer designs; mobile phones to smartphones, physical input to touchscreens. Nokia's N86 8MP is a classic old-guard smartphone, packing connectivity and high-resolution shooting that reads on paper like Nokia's game-changing N95 , only better.

The good One of the most comprehensive security suites we've encountered Behaviour-based prevention system Security for Symbian and Windows Mobile devices The bad Virus detection and removal efficacy is hard to determine Service is acceptable, but not stellar Launching a link from within the program feels sluggish and awkward Editor's note: this review was written in conjunction with CNET's review of Trend Micro AntiVirus + AntiSpyware 2010 . If you're looking for a robust feature set from your security suite, and you want an affordable price, you could do worse than Trend Micro's 2010 products. Trend Micro Internet Security Pro, Trend Micro Internet Security and the stripped-down Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware have been refreshed, with the publisher claiming significant performance enhancements to each.

The good Basic antivirus and anti-spyware protection The bad Stripped-down program lacks many of the bells and whistles that made its siblings worth considering Editor's note: this review was written in conjunction with CNET's review of Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010 . If you're looking for a robust feature set from your security suite, and you're looking for an affordable price, you could do worse than Trend Micro's 2010 Internet Security and Internet Security Pro. However, this basic version offers the bare minimum of protection, even with decent performance benchmarks.
