    It's happened to everybody; the phone vibrates or emits a sound notification, you feel instantly popular and in demand, and proudly whip out your phone to see who has contacted you, only to realise that it was just another annoying update from an unused app. Like email in its early days, push notifications on your mobile phone are evolving from being a valuable source of information to saturating your phone with annoying '"push spam". However, push notifications obviously aren't going away, so there will be significant opportunities for start-ups to try and solve the problem of ensuring that only the most relevant notifications reach the user

    Google may have solved its issue with prepaid cards on Wallet, but an earlier flaw thought to be restricted to rooted phones may have more serious repercussions. (Google Wallet at Peet's image by kennejima , CC BY 2.0 ) Wallet was exposed to two flaws last week, the first of which - discovered by security researchers at Zvelo - allowed malicious users to obtain the PIN required to open the Google Wallet application if the user's smartphone had been rooted. The second flaw was discovered shortly afterwards by The Smartphone Champ , which realised that resetting Wallet would result in users being prompted for a new PIN, and allow them to use the prepaid card associated with the device

It was a smart move anticipating reactions to its oversized 5.3-inch screen when it first launched in Europe, but the problem with claiming that the Galaxy Note is a phone/tablet hybrid (a "phablet", if you will) is setting the expectation that it will be able to reduce your tablet dependence, or obviate the need for one in the first place.
